Dinner by Lia (Taken with instagram)
spring is bringing me gifts, sort of. jayne and kelly are visiting la (for the first time ever! gasp.) in march and i am so excited and kind of nervous but mostly excited. we’re all staying at a little motel right next to melrose and animal and and and and we’re going to have a mini francesca lia block/weetzie bat tour. and probably cook dinner with all my friends and eat cheese from the beverly hills cheese store and have our own cocktail party and take naps in the sun in the getty gardens and eat the best thai food ever. and oki dogs. i hope there’s a heat wave.

I don’t believe in signs or omens, but I still find myself looking for them everywhere. The other day, I decided that a particularly seedy orange was a sign of trouble coming. Pretending that songs that come up on shuffle are predicting the future, that kind of thing.
That said, I am pretty certain that finding a forward-facing seat as soon as I got on the train and having a clear enough morning that I could see all of San Francisco and Marin means that today is going to be a lucky Friday the 13th.

Monday, I had lobster bisque, steak frites, red wine, and lemon torte for lunch with Lia. For dinner, we got Chicago-style deep-dish pizza because we’re hedonists. And then ate Bouchon Bakery cookies for dessert. The next day I felt fine.
Last night, I took my sister’s cruncy vegan ass out to Millennium, where I found two delicious salady things on the menu, so I ordered them both. I had spicy kale with peanuts and then a caesar-y salad with smoked tofu and a bunch of vegetarian snacks (it was all wonderful). About an hour after we left, I started to feel a bit queasy. It was a long BART ride home. This morning, I still feel kind of shitty.
What the fuck, Nature? I get a hangover after a fucking vegetable binge? I ate your food and this is how you repay me? I’m going back to Bouchon.

jesus. i’m embarrassed to know you.
I guess that nixes the all-Celine playlist I had planned for our road trip to Bouchon.
